Nancy Goldstein

Born in 1947 in Bronx, New York. I went to college at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut and majored in Speech and Theatre Arts, with a minor in English and Elementary Education. I taught 3rd through 5th grade and acquired a New York City elementary school license and began my Masters in Elementary Education at Queens College.

I taught four year olds at Temple Beth Israel in Broward. I became an assistant director at the Inverrary School for the next 9 years and then went back to Jewish Education as the Early Childhood Director at Sunrise Jewish Center in Broward. In 1997, I began my position here at B'nai Torah at The Ruth and Edward Taubman Early Childhood Center.

I served as president of the Jewish Council of Early Childhood Educators from 1997 to 1999. We are committed to cultivating a vision for the Jewish Early Childhood Community within South Florida. The organization offers in-service opportunities as well as a winter Professional Growth Institute.

Accreditation by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs is a process in which a program's administrators, staff and parents join with representatives of the Academy to determine whether that program meets nationally recognized criteria for high quality. The purpose of undergoing this accreditation process is to improve the quality of education provided for our young children in our Jewish Early Childhood programs and raise them to the highest of educational standards. August 2000, The Ruth and Edward Taubman Early Childhood Center received their accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We are all proud of our accomplishment.

Throughout the nation, numerous initiatives are underway towards raising the standard within the world of Early Childhood Education. I was appointed to the Palm Beach County Coalition this year and serve as the "Faith Based Provider" to this state appointed board.

The Ruth and Edward Taubman Early Childhood Center is part of the Migdal Or Jewish Early Childhood Models of Excellence Project ("MOE Project"), seeking to develop the finest practice in Jewish Early Childhood Education. We hope to serve as a laboratory school providing a model environment conducive for mentoring educators in need of pedagogical assistance.
